India concluded its men's campaign at the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships 2026 with an impressive haul of two gold and three silver medals in the finals held in Jakarta on Thursday.

The standout performances came in the U-23 men's category, where Indian boxers secured two gold medals and one silver, while the U-19 men's contingent added two silver medals to the country's overall tally.

Vishvanath Suresh and Ganga Strike Gold in U-23 Finals

India enjoyed an excellent outing in the U-23 men's finals with Vishvanath Suresh (50kg) clinching the gold medal after edging Japan's Daichi Iwai by a narrow 3:2 split decision.

Ganga (55kg) also emerged victorious, defeating Kazakhstan's Bexulatn Boranbek by another closely contested 3:2 split decision to claim India's second gold medal of the day.

In the 65kg final, Vanshaj delivered a determined performance but settled for the silver medal after suffering a 4:1 defeat against Uzbekistan's Ilkhomjon Ergashev.

U-19 Boxers Finish with Two Silver Medals

India's U-19 finalists fought hard but had to settle for silver medals against strong Uzbek opponents.

  • Aditya (55kg) lost 5:0 to Uzbekistan's Elyor Rustamov.
  • Shubham Rajput (90kg) went down 5:0 against Uzbekistan's Asadbek Sultanboev.

Successful Campaign in Jakarta

The results underlined India's growing strength in age-group boxing, particularly in the U-23 category, where the country's boxers secured two gold medals against high-quality international opposition.

The Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships were held in Jakarta from July 5 to July 16, 2026, bringing together some of Asia's most promising young boxing talent. Indian boxers delivered a series of commendable performances throughout the tournament across both U-19 and U-23 categories, reinforcing the country's emergence as one of the continent's strongest boxing nations.
