Malaysia to Host Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang in 2026

July 26, 2026: Formula 1 and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) have confirmed that Malaysia will host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the iconic Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4, 2026, between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix on the 2026 Formula 1 calendar.

The event, which remains subject to final agreements and official sign-off, including approval from the World Motor Sport Council, will officially be staged as the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. The arrangement follows an agreement between Formula 1, the FIA, the Government of Bahrain and the Government of Malaysia, ensuring the Bahrain Grand Prix remains on the 2026 championship calendar.

Formula 1 said the solution reflects Bahrain's long-standing commitment to the sport since hosting the Middle East's first Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2004, while also highlighting Malaysia's support in making the event possible. The remainder of the 2026 Formula 1 calendar remains unchanged.

Sepang Returns to the Formula 1 Calendar

Sepang International Circuit, regarded as one of Formula 1's most iconic and technically demanding venues, will welcome the championship back after several years. Known for its passionate fanbase, unpredictable weather and challenging layout, the Malaysian circuit is expected to provide another exciting chapter in the 2026 season.

Formula 1 also confirmed that ticketing details for the event will be announced at a later date.
