Assam Cricket Association Unveils 275-Player Pool for Inaugural Assam Premier League Auction

Guwahati, July 8, 2026: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has announced the players' pool for the inaugural edition of the Assam Premier League (APL), marking another major milestone ahead of the league's first season.

A total of 275 players have been shortlisted from among the registered cricketers who expressed interest in participating in the tournament. The pool includes 20 marquee players alongside more than 250 players in the general category, all of whom will go under the hammer during the APL Player Auction as franchises build their squads for the league's inaugural campaign.

Twenty Marquee Players Headline Auction Pool

The marquee category features several of Assam's established domestic cricketers who have represented the state in BCCI tournaments. The list includes experienced batters, all-rounders, bowlers and wicketkeepers expected to attract significant interest from participating franchises.

Leading the batting and all-round options are Denish Das, Sibsankar Roy, Sumit Kashyap, Swarupam Purkayastha and Jitumoni Kalita. The bowling contingent is headlined by Mrinmoy Dutta, Muktar Hussain, Avinav Choudhary, Rahul Singh, Sadak Hussain and Bhargab Pratim Lakhar.

Further strengthening the batting pool are Saahil Jain, Pradyun Saikia and Saurav Mousum Dihingia, while Abdul Ajij Kuraishi, Akash Sengupta and Ayushman Malakar add depth in the all-rounders' category. The wicketkeeping options include Sumit Ghadigaonkar, Rohit Sen and Ruhinandan Pegu.

All 20 marquee players have previously represented Assam in BCCI domestic competitions and are expected to command the highest bids during the auction.

Player Auction Scheduled for July 19

The inaugural APL Player Auction will be held on July 19, 2026, at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. Franchises participating in the competition will select players from the auction pool to assemble their squads for the opening season.

Boost for Assam Cricket

The Assam Premier League is expected to provide a significant platform for emerging and established cricketers from the state to showcase their talent before selectors. According to the Assam Cricket Association, performances in the league will contribute directly to the identification and selection of players for the upcoming BCCI domestic season.

The launch of the APL is seen as an important step in strengthening Assam's domestic cricket structure while creating greater opportunities for local talent to compete at a higher level.
