Hyderabad, July, 2026: Hyderabad E-Champions booked their place in the final of the Hyderabad Cricket Association's Sreenidhi University TG20 after registering a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over EIPL & Eleve Karimnagar Diamonds in Qualifier 2 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
The victory sets up a highly anticipated title clash against Anvita Khammam Aces on Sunday at 7:15 PM. Having suffered a defeat against the Aces in Qualifier 1, Hyderabad E-Champions will now have the opportunity to avenge that loss in the tournament's summit clash.
Abhirath Reddy Continues Stellar Season
Captain Abhirath Reddy once again led from the front with a magnificent 82 off 49 deliveries, striking seven fours and five sixes. His innings not only guided his team to victory but also made him the first batter to cross the 500-run mark in this season's competition, reclaiming the Orange Cap.
Chasing a target of 158, Abhirath and Sai Vikas Reddy gave Hyderabad E-Champions a flying start, putting together 56 runs during the powerplay. The duo continued to dominate the Diamonds' bowling attack, compiling the tournament's second-highest opening partnership of 124 runs.
Abhirath reached his half-century in just 32 balls before Sai Vikas departed for a well-made 45 off 31 deliveries. Although Abhirath was dismissed shortly afterwards, Vaishav Reddy (25 off 12) and Yashveer Goud (4 off 1) comfortably completed the chase in just 16.3 overs with 27 balls remaining.
Disciplined Bowling Restricts Karimnagar Diamonds
Earlier, opting to bat first in the must-win contest, Karimnagar Diamonds struggled to gain momentum against a disciplined Hyderabad E-Champions bowling attack.
After a cautious start, skipper Tanmay Agarwal was dismissed for 10 by Shanmukha Ashwin, handing E-Champions an early breakthrough. Hrishikesh Simha and Satwik Reddy attempted to rebuild the innings with an aggressive partnership, adding valuable runs before Akhil Rathod removed Satwik for 28.
Rahul Radesh injected momentum with a brisk 28 off 15 balls, but Shanmukha Ashwin struck again to halt the charge. Pranav Varma then delivered a decisive spell, dismissing both Hrishikesh Simha (38) and Chandan Sahani in the same over to leave the Diamonds under pressure.
The Hyderabad bowlers tightened their grip during the closing overs, remarkably preventing a boundary for eight consecutive overs before Shubham Sharma struck two late sixes. Purple Cap holder Ajay Dev Goud finished strongly, claiming two wickets while conceding just seven runs in the final over as Karimnagar Diamonds finished with 157/7.
Final Showdown Awaits
With momentum firmly on their side, Hyderabad E-Champions will now take on Anvita Khammam Aces in Sunday's final. The clash promises to be a thrilling contest as E-Champions seek redemption after their Qualifier 1 defeat, while the Aces look to cap off an outstanding campaign with the championship title.
