Vyshak Vijaykumar Leads Mysuru Warriors into Knockout Stage
Mysuru Warriors secured the fourth and final playoff berth in the DACSS Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 after a dominant six-wicket victory over Shivamogga Yodhas at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
After electing to field first, Mysuru Warriors produced one of the tournament's finest bowling performances to dismiss Shivamogga Yodhas for just 66 in 10.5 overs. The Warriors then chased down the modest target in 10 overs, sealing victory with 60 balls remaining.
The win took Mysuru Warriors to nine points from 10 matches, enough to secure the final knockout spot. Despite the heavy defeat, Shivamogga Yodhas finished second in the standings with 10 points, while Bengaluru Blasters topped the league table with 18 points.
Arbind Kumar Rai Sets the Tone with Early Breakthroughs
With their playoff hopes on the line, Mysuru Warriors delivered under pressure from the very beginning. Fast bowler Arbind Kumar Rai struck crucial early blows, dismissing Luvnith Sisodia (12), Harshil Dharmani (8) and Sujay Sateri (0) to leave the Yodhas reeling at 57 for five.
Rai finished with impressive figures of 3 for 28, providing the perfect platform for the Warriors' bowling attack.
Captain Vyshak Produces Match-Winning Spell
Captain Vyshak Vijaykumar then produced a sensational spell that completely dismantled the Shivamogga batting line-up. Introduced after Rai's opening burst, Vyshak conceded just one run in 1.5 overs while picking up three wickets.
After conceding a single from his first delivery, the pacer bowled 10 consecutive dot balls and claimed wickets with his sixth, ninth and 11th deliveries to finish with extraordinary figures of 3 for 1.
Left-arm spinner Madhav Bajaj provided excellent support by returning 3 for 9 from three overs, while Ritesh Bhatkal claimed the early wicket of opener M.G. Naveen.
The Yodhas suffered a dramatic collapse, with only four batters reaching double figures and five players dismissed without scoring. Tushar Singh top-scored with 15 as the innings ended with the tournament's lowest total of 66.
Mysuru Complete Comfortable Chase
Chasing 67, Mysuru Warriors lost four wickets but never looked under pressure. L.R. Chethan anchored the innings with a top score of 26, guiding his side to victory inside 10 overs.
Abhilash Shetty was the standout bowler for Shivamogga Yodhas, claiming 3 for 15, but the target proved too small to defend.
Warriors Book Final Knockout Spot
The victory eliminated Gulbarga Mystics from playoff contention and confirmed Mysuru Warriors as the fourth team in the knockout stage. Shivamogga Yodhas, despite the defeat, progressed in second place after an impressive league campaign that included three consecutive wins before Wednesday's match.
