Bengaluru Blasters finish league stage with commanding win

Bengaluru Blasters concluded their league campaign in the DACCS Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 with an 11-run victory over Gulbarga Mystics at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday. The result also confirmed Coastal Kings Mangaluru as the third team to qualify for the knockout stage alongside Bengaluru Blasters and Shivamogga Yodhas.

While the top three playoff spots are now secured, Mysore Warriors and Gulbarga Mystics remain in contention for the final berth heading into the last round of league fixtures.

Patil, Faizan Khan and Hegde power Blasters to 176

Having already secured a place in Qualifier 1, Bengaluru Blasters posted a competitive 176/8 in 20 overs, courtesy of impressive knocks from Rohan Patil, Wahid Faizan Khan and captain Shubhang Hegde.

Rohan Patil continued his excellent form with a fluent 51 off 35 deliveries, striking six fours and a six. He provided a strong start alongside Bhuvan Raju in a 45-run opening partnership before adding another 53 runs with Wahid Faizan Khan for the third wicket.

Faizan Khan played an aggressive innings of 46 off just 25 balls, smashing six boundaries and two sixes before Ronit More dismissed him and Shivraj S in the same over to slow the scoring.

Kranthi Kumar then struck twice in the 15th over, removing both Patil and Praveen Dubey to put the brakes on the Blasters' innings.

A brief rain interruption after the 15th over disrupted Bengaluru's momentum, but skipper Shubhang Hegde ensured a strong finish. Remaining unbeaten on 38 from only 20 balls, Hegde struck three fours and two sixes, including two maximums in the final over, to lift the Blasters to 176/8.

Kranthi Kumar emerged as the standout bowler for Gulbarga Mystics with impressive figures of 3/28, while Ronit More claimed 2/28.

Early breakthroughs leave Mystics under pressure

Defending 177, Bengaluru Blasters produced a sensational start with the ball as Vidwath Kaverappa and Nischith Rao dismantled the Mystics' top order.

The Mystics slumped to 24/4 in just 3.2 overs after Rao removed Prakhar Chaturvedi and Sharath BR, while Kaverappa dismissed Lochan Gowda and Macneil Noronha off successive deliveries.

Coming in at No. 5, Thippa Reddy counter-attacked with three boundaries and a six to keep his side in the contest. Despite wickets falling at the other end, including Dhruv Prabhakaran (15 off 18) and Manish Pandey (2 off 4), Reddy reached a brisk half-century in just 23 deliveries.

His innings ended in the 13th over when Rohan Naveen effected a stumping, leaving the Mystics struggling at 101/7.

Kranthi Kumar's late fireworks fall short

Although the chase appeared beyond reach, Kranthi Kumar produced a spirited unbeaten 53 off 36 balls to keep Bengaluru Blasters on edge. Requiring 31 runs from the final over, he smashed three successive sixes to complete his half-century, but the target ultimately proved too steep.

Bengaluru Blasters restricted Gulbarga Mystics to 165/8, sealing an 11-run victory.

Nischith Rao (2/31), Rohan Raju (2/35) and Vidwath Kaverappa (2/41) each claimed two wickets in a disciplined bowling effort.
