Bengaluru, July, 2026: Bengaluru Blasters produced a remarkable all-round performance to secure their place in the final of the DACCS Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, defeating Coastal Kings Mangaluru by 12 runs in Qualifier 1 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.
After being reduced to 52/5 inside eight overs, the Blasters staged a sensational recovery through captain Shubhang Hegde and Praveen Dubey, whose unbeaten 133-run partnership transformed the innings. Defending 185, Samit Dravid then delivered a match-winning spell of 3/30 to guide Bengaluru into the championship clash.
Hegde and Dubey Rescue Bengaluru Blasters
Asked to bat first, Bengaluru Blasters endured a disastrous start as Vasuki Koushik and Santokh Singh ripped through the top order. Koushik dismissed Bhuvan Raju and Shivraj S, while Santokh removed Rohan Patil and Wahid Faizan Khan to leave the table-toppers struggling at 52/5.
With the innings hanging in the balance, skipper Shubhang Hegde and experienced all-rounder Praveen Dubey combined to produce one of the finest partnerships of the tournament. The duo stitched together an unbeaten 133-run stand for the sixth wicket off just 74 deliveries, adding a staggering 78 runs in the final five overs.
Dubey took the aggressive approach, smashing an unbeaten 69 from just 38 balls, an innings featuring six boundaries and two sixes. Hegde played the anchor's role brilliantly, finishing unbeaten on 65 from 52 deliveries with two fours and three sixes as the Blasters posted a competitive 185/5.
Samit Dravid Leads Clinical Bowling Display
Coastal Kings Mangaluru's chase never gained complete momentum after losing both openers inside the powerplay. Samit Dravid struck first by removing Aadharsh Prajwal before Vidwath Kaverappa dismissed captain Karun Nair for just two, reducing the Kings to 23/2.
Nikin Jose and Prajwal Pavan rebuilt the innings with a valuable 50-run partnership for the third wicket, but Dravid returned to dismiss Jose for 45, putting Bengaluru back in control.
Siddharth Akhil and Suraj Ahuja kept the contest alive with an entertaining 64-run stand. Akhil scored 37 off 24 balls, while Ahuja remained unbeaten on 52 from 29 deliveries, striking six fours and two sixes.
Needing 34 runs from the final two overs, Coastal Kings still had hope before Praveen Dubey claimed the crucial wicket of Dheeraj Gowda in the 19th over. The breakthrough effectively ended the chase as Bengaluru Blasters restricted their opponents to 173/6 to seal a memorable 12-run victory.
Final Spot Secured, Coastal Kings Get Another Chance
With the win, Bengaluru Blasters advanced directly to the final of the DACCS Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20. Coastal Kings Mangaluru, meanwhile, will have another opportunity to reach the title clash when they face Shivamogga Yodhas in Qualifier 2 on Saturday.
