Goa, July 18, 2026: Defending champions U Mumba TT delivered a historic performance to thrash UP Prometheans 13-2 in Butterfly Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 7 Powered by ChatGPT on Saturday, recording the biggest winning margin in the competition's five-match format.
The dominant victory also saw U Mumba set a new competition record by winning 11 consecutive games, propelling the defending champions to the top of the league standings.
In the day's other tie, Ahmedabad APL Pipers defeated PBG Pune Jaguars 10-5 to keep their playoff hopes alive with an impressive all-round performance.
Organised under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani, Butterfly UTT Season 7 features 42 players from across the globe, including 14 Olympians, while continuing its focus on strengthening Indian table tennis through elite competition and grassroots development.
U Mumba Dominate From Start to Finish
French paddler Lilian Bardet gave U Mumba the perfect start with a commanding straight-games victory over Ricardo Walther before Anusha Kutumbale stunned two-time Butterfly UTT MVP Yangzi Liu in another clean sweep to hand the defending champions a 6-0 advantage.
The in-form mixed doubles pairing of Manush Shah and Anna Hursey continued their outstanding run by defeating Ricardo Walther and Swastika Ghosh in straight games, giving U Mumba an unassailable 9-0 lead and effectively sealing the tie.
Manush then overcame his longtime doubles partner and close friend Manav Thakkar, extending U Mumba's remarkable streak to a tournament-record 11 consecutive game victories before Thakkar halted the run by claiming the third game on Golden Point.
Hursey completed the historic afternoon with a 2-1 victory over Sayali Wani, sealing a record-breaking 13-2 triumph.
Anusha Kutumbale Shines
Anusha Kutumbale was named both the ChatGPT Match IQ Player and Indian Player of the Tie following her impressive victory over Yangzi Liu.
Lilian Bardet received the Foreign Player of the Tie award, while Manush Shah claimed the Bisleri Shot of the Tie honour.
Ahmedabad Keep Playoff Hopes Alive
Earlier in the day, Ahmedabad APL Pipers registered a crucial 10-5 victory over PBG Pune Jaguars.
Adrien Rassenfosse handed Snehit Suravajjula his first singles defeat of the season before Sofia Polcanova rallied from a game down to beat Diya Chitale in their first-ever meeting, winning the final two games on Golden Point.
Payas Jain and Polcanova combined to win the mixed doubles after losing the opening game, putting Ahmedabad firmly in control.
Although Omar Assar kept Pune in contention with a hard-fought win over Payas Jain, Manika Batra wrapped up the tie in style with a straight-games victory over Prithika Pavade.
Polcanova earned both the ChatGPT Match IQ Player and Foreign Player of the Tie awards, while Manika Batra was named Indian Player of the Tie. Prithika Pavade received the Bisleri Shot of the Tie award.
Dream UTT Juniors Final Confirmed
In the Dream UTT Juniors competition, Dabang Delhi TTC defeated Dempo Goa Challengers 5-2, while U Mumba TT beat UP Prometheans 5-1 in the semifinals. The two winning teams will meet in the final on Sunday, July 19.
