Maini Brothers Deliver Historic Weekend for Indian Motorsport

Indian motorsport celebrated a landmark weekend on July 5, 2026, as brothers Kush Maini and Arjun Maini delivered podium finishes across two of the world's most prestigious racing championships. While Kush secured a Formula 2 Feature Race podium at Silverstone Circuit, Arjun claimed his first podium of the 2026 DTM season at Norisring, ensuring the Indian tricolour was represented on two iconic international podiums.

Kush Maini Impresses with Formula 2 Feature Race Podium at Silverstone

Kush Maini produced one of the strongest weekends of his Formula 2 career at Silverstone, the Home of British Motorsport, to firmly establish himself in the Drivers' Championship battle heading into the second half of the 2026 season.

Representing ART Grand Prix, Maini qualified third for Sunday's Feature Race. Due to Formula 2's reverse-grid format, he started eighth in Saturday's Sprint Race.

The Sprint Race showcased Maini's racecraft as he calmly worked his way through the field, gaining four positions to finish fourth. While narrowly missing the podium, the performance demonstrated consistency and composure at one of motorsport's most demanding circuits.

Blistering Start Sets Up Silverstone Podium

Sunday's Feature Race proved to be the highlight of the weekend. Starting from third on the grid, Maini launched brilliantly off the line to take the race lead before the opening corner.

Leading the Formula 2 field for a significant portion of the race, Maini displayed impressive pace, intelligent tyre management and mature race strategy. Following his mandatory pit stop, he found himself in an intense battle with the Formula 2 championship leader, producing several memorable wheel-to-wheel moments while defending resolutely.

Maini eventually crossed the finish line in third, securing his second Formula 2 podium of the 2026 season after an outstanding all-round performance.

Championship Momentum Continues

The podium result lifts Kush Maini to sixth in the Formula 2 Drivers' Championship standings, leaving him just six points adrift of the top five as the season enters its second half.

"Really happy with how the weekend has gone. Missed out on a double podium weekend by a small margin, but big points going into the second half of the season. Big thanks for all the support from everyone back home and JK Tyre and TVS Racing for supporting my journey," said Maini after his second podium of the 2026 F2 season.

Arjun Maini Earns First DTM Podium of 2026

The celebrations continued for the Maini family as elder brother Arjun Maini secured his first podium finish of the 2026 DTM season at Norisring.

Competing as a Ford factory driver for HRT Ford Performance, Arjun demonstrated exceptional qualifying pace throughout the weekend, earning third place on the starting grid for both Saturday's and Sunday's races.

Arjun converted his strong qualifying performance into a podium finish in Saturday's Race 1, giving Ford Mustang its first podium of his ongoing DTM campaign.

Sunday's race presented even tougher conditions with rain and a red flag interrupting proceedings. Carrying an additional 5 kg ballast following Saturday's podium, Arjun maintained impressive pace throughout the race to finish fourth, narrowly missing a second consecutive podium.

Indian Motorsport Enjoys Memorable International Weekend

The simultaneous success of Kush and Arjun Maini at two iconic European circuits marks another significant milestone for Indian motorsport. With Kush strengthening his Formula 2 title challenge and Arjun returning to the DTM podium, the Maini brothers delivered one of the most successful weekends by Indian racing drivers on the international stage.
