Lanka Premier League 2026 Set for Biggest Season Yet as Star Sports to Broadcast Sixth Edition

July 11, 2026: The Lanka Premier League (LPL), Sri Lanka's premier franchise T20 competition, is set to return for its sixth season from July 17 to August 8, 2026, with live coverage on Star Sports. Organised by Sri Lanka Cricket and with commercial rights held by Innovative Production Group FZ, LLC (IPG), the tournament continues to strengthen its reputation as one of South Asia's leading franchise cricket leagues.

Building on growing fan engagement and increasing international participation, LPL 2026 is expected to deliver its biggest season yet. This year's competition features 62 Sri Lankan players alongside 32 overseas cricketers, offering local talent the opportunity to compete with and learn from some of the world's leading players.

Growing Global Appeal for LPL

The Lanka Premier League has become an important platform for the development of Sri Lankan cricket by providing players with exposure to high-performance environments and elite-level competition. At the same time, the tournament continues to attract growing international interest.

According to the organisers, more than 650 overseas players from 21 countries registered for the 2026 season, underlining the league's expanding global footprint.

LPL Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela believes the sixth edition will showcase the league's continued growth through a blend of established international stars and emerging Sri Lankan talent.
