Indian Men's and Women's Teams Leave for Inaugural Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship in Oman

New Delhi, July 18, 2026: The Indian men's and women's teams departed from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Saturday to participate in the inaugural Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship, which will be held in Muscat, Oman, from July 20 to 25.

The championship will bring together Asia's top emerging hockey talent and will serve as the official continental qualifying tournament for the inaugural FIH U18 Youth Hockey5s World Cup.

India Drawn in Elite Pools

The Indian men's team, coached by former India captain Sardar Singh, has been placed in the Elite Pool alongside hosts Oman, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Indian women's team, under the guidance of former captain Rani, will compete against China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the Elite Pool.

Campaign Begins on July 20

India will begin its campaign on the opening day of the tournament, July 20.

• Men's Team: India vs Bangladesh
• Women's Team: India vs Kazakhstan

Both teams will aim to make a strong start as they look to secure qualification for the inaugural FIH U18 Youth Hockey5s World Cup through a successful campaign in Muscat.
