Hyderabad E-Champions Crowned Inaugural Sreenidhi University TG20 Champions
HYDERABAD, July 12, 2026: Hyderabad E-Champions scripted history by lifting the inaugural Sreenidhi University TG20 Trophy after registering a commanding six-wicket victory over Anvita Khammam Aces in the final at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
After 22 days of competitive cricket, the E-Champions lived up to their name with a clinical all-round performance. Led by captain Abhirath Reddy, the side bounced back from a minor setback in Qualifier 1 to emerge as the tournament's first-ever champions in front of a packed crowd.
The foundation for victory was laid by an impressive bowling display. Left-arm spinner Yashveer Goud delivered a match-winning spell of 3/17, while Dev Mehta (2/25), Shanmukha Ashwin (2/31) and Ajay Dev Goud (2/36) chipped in with two wickets each to restrict Anvita Khammam Aces to 157/8 in 20 overs.
In reply, skipper Abhirath Reddy top-scored with 48 off 30 deliveries, Shanmukha Ashwin added a brisk 36 off 21 balls, and Vaishnav Reddy remained unbeaten on 41 from 28 balls as Hyderabad E-Champions chased down the target in 17.3 overs with 15 deliveries to spare.
Aces Recover After Early Wickets
Asked to bat first, Anvita Khammam Aces experimented with their fifth opening combination of the tournament. Prateek Reddy signalled positive intent with an early six, but Purple Cap holder Ajay Dev Goud provided the first breakthrough by dismissing Paras Raj for 3.
Dev Mehta then struck twice in the fifth over, removing G Sai Krishna Reddy (4) and Prateek Reddy to leave the Aces struggling at 33/3 inside the powerplay.
Experienced campaigners Himateja Kodimela and Mickil Jaiswal steadied the innings with a crucial 94-run partnership off 61 deliveries. Himateja contributed a composed 31 off 26 balls, while Mickil anchored the recovery with a superb 65 from just 39 deliveries, reaching his half-century in only 31 balls.
The momentum shifted in the 16th over when Yashveer Goud dismissed both Himateja Kodimela and CV Milind. Ajay Dev Goud then removed the dangerous Mickil Jaiswal in the following over to leave the Aces under pressure.
Although Vidyananda Reddy struck a late 20 off 10 balls, including a boundary and two sixes, Anvita Khammam Aces lost four wickets for just nine runs during the death overs and finished on 157/8.
Abhirath Reddy and Vaishnav Reddy Guide the Chase
Anvita Khammam Aces made the perfect start to their defence when Harshith Sai dismissed Sai Vikas Reddy in the second over. Hyderabad E-Champions responded aggressively by promoting Shanmukha Ashwin, who combined with captain Abhirath Reddy in a 62-run partnership that shifted the momentum.
The duo powered their team to 56/1 at the end of the powerplay, keeping the required run rate firmly under control. Vidyananda Reddy eventually broke the stand in the eighth over, but the E-Champions continued to dictate proceedings.
Abhirath Reddy fell agonisingly short of a half-century after scoring 48, with Shaik Azhar claiming his wicket in the 12th over. Yashveer Goud was dismissed soon after, but Vaishnav Reddy and Pranav Varma ensured there were no further setbacks.
The pair stitched together an unbeaten 51-run partnership from just 28 deliveries, with Vaishnav Reddy sealing the historic triumph in style by launching the winning six over mid-wicket to hand Hyderabad E-Champions their maiden Sreenidhi University TG20 title.
