Hyderabad, July 3, 2026: Opener Gaurav Reddy produced a sensational unbeaten century to power Anurag Nalgonda Knights to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Medak Falcons in the first match of the Hyderabad Cricket Association's Sreenidhi University TG20 on Friday. The comprehensive win lifted the Knights to second place on the tournament points table.
Chasing a challenging target of 181, Gaurav Reddy anchored the innings with a magnificent unbeaten 101 off just 47 deliveries. His match-winning knock, which featured six fours and nine sixes, ensured the Knights reached 181/2 with 21 balls remaining. The century was Gaurav's maiden hundred of the tournament and helped him move to third place in the Orange Cap standings with 257 runs.
Falcons Recover to Post Competitive Total
After electing to bat first, Medak Falcons made a steady start through openers Naman Agarwal and Shrunjith Reddy. The pair capitalised on loose deliveries to race to 30 without loss after three overs.
Aniketh Reddy provided the breakthrough for the Knights in the fourth over by dismissing Naman Agarwal for 18 off 14 balls. Falcons captain Ravi Teja then joined Shrunjith Reddy to rebuild the innings with a 28-run partnership from 24 deliveries, taking the team to 58/1 at the end of the powerplay.
Shrunjith's brisk 30 off 17 balls ended with a run-out in the eighth over, while Ravi Teja counterattacked with consecutive sixes before debutant Ilyaan Sathani struck in his very first over to remove the Falcons skipper. Rakshann Readdi then dismissed Bunny Jagam for 4, reducing Medak Falcons to 89/4.
Vikram Naik and Sai Varun Rescue the Falcons
With the innings under pressure, Vikram Naik and Sai Varun Yerram produced a composed recovery. The duo rotated the strike efficiently before accelerating during the closing stages of the innings.
The unbeaten fifth-wicket partnership added 91 runs from 55 balls, including 63 runs in the final five overs. Vikram remained unbeaten on 48 from 31 deliveries, striking four boundaries and two sixes, while Sai Varun finished on 44 not out from 29 balls as Medak Falcons posted a competitive 180/4.
Knights Dominate the Chase from the Outset
Anurag Nalgonda Knights launched their chase in spectacular fashion. Jashwanth Mote set the tone by scoring 14 runs in the opening over before combining with Gaurav Reddy for a blistering opening partnership.
The pair raced to 81 runs inside the powerplay and added 83 runs before Arjun Gorrapalli dismissed Jashwanth for an entertaining 34 off 21 balls. By then, however, the Knights had already gained complete control of the contest.
Gaurav continued his assault, reaching his half-century in just 22 balls. Nitish Reddy supported him with 21 off 17 balls during a 58-run partnership before Madhukar Manne claimed his wicket. With only a handful of runs remaining, captain Rahul Buddhi contributed an unbeaten 20 off 14 deliveries to steer the Knights home.
Gaurav reached his century in just 46 balls before sealing victory with the winning runs, completing one of the finest innings of the tournament so far.
Knights Move Up the Standings
The convincing victory moves Anurag Nalgonda Knights into second place on the points table, strengthening their playoff hopes. Gaurav Reddy's remarkable form with the bat has also placed him firmly among the leading run-scorers in the competition as the race for the Orange Cap intensifies.
